History
Symes Accountants is the result of the merger on 1 July 2003 of two local accounting firms, Symes and Associates and Foxfords Accountants.
Peter Symes commenced practice as a sole practioner in 1986 by establishing the firm Symes & Associates. He predominantly offered compliance and advisory services to the small and medium business sector, with a wide variety of business types as clients. He operated from premises at 18A Adelaide Road in Gawler.
In July 2001 Peter Caddy joined Peter Symes as a partner in the practice.
Peter Foxford was a partner or principal in three accounting practices over a period of time from October 1983. One of these, Sherwood and Company set up an office in Gawler in 1989. In February 1992 that office became known as Foxford & Company. In December 2001 the name was changed to Foxfords Accountants and they moved to 27 Twelfth Street at Gawler South.
Unfortunately, Peter Foxford died in November 2002, with his wife Lea then making the decision to sell the Foxfords Accountants practice.
On 1 July 2003 the businesses of Symes & Associates and Foxfords Accountants merged to become what is now Symes Accountants and moved to the current premises.
With business growing Hans van Heuven bought in to the Symes Accountants business in July 2005.
After 24 years in the practice Peter Symes retired on 30 June 2010 in order to pursue other interests. We thank him for his wonderful contribution and wish him well This left Peter Caddy (currently the CEO of the business) and Hans van Heuven as the two partners.
On 1 July 2011, Robert Milanese, after working in the business for 5 years, joined Peter Caddy and Hans van Heuven as a partner.
Today’s clients include family groups who have been with us since 1986 as well as small and medium sized enterprises throughout the Gawler region and beyond. Our client base now encompasses many industries and professions, including farmers, vintners and other primary producers.
